Title: Sea-Kayak Exploration

Description:
This is a kayak based Marine Biology/Natural History and Physical Education course. On this ten day kayak tour, students will explore and study the marine ecology of the San Juan Islands and learn how to sea kayak while applying nutritional and physical fitness concepts. No prior kayaking experience is required. Additional fees cover the cost of the trip.

Description and Prerequisite:

Introduction to marine organisms and the environment in which they live. Special emphasis is given to the species found in the Pacific Northwest. Field trips may be required. Lab included.

Prerequisite: Appropriate placement or grade of 2.0 or higher in ENGL 099 and MATH 98.

Class Notes:

1. This class is an integrated experience as a 2 week field course in SanJuan islands. 10 day kayak & camping tour of islands. Explore marine ecology & natural history of islands through hands-on exploration in field discussion and guest speakers.

2. No previous kayaking experience or equipment required. Kayaks, paddling equipment, en-route camp fees & meals all included w/Lab Fee.2 pre-trip meetings required. Contact Cliff Palmer [email protected] Lab Fee $787.
