 Course Description  

This NON-MAJORS course begins with the study of scientific method, and continues with the study of chemistry of life, cells, metabolism, heredity, evolution, ecology, and the diversity of life. This course is intended to show students the relevancy of biology in everyday life. Lab included.

 Prerequisite  

Prerequisite: Recommended that students complete Math 98 and English 99 both with a C or better prior to taking this course.

Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

After completing this course, the student will be able to understand the basic principles or concepts of life which include: biological history and method, basic chemistry of life, energy processing, diversity of life, ecology, heredity, and evolution of life. The student will learn an international perspective of science via the exploration of the scientific method and cultural influences. Lab exercises will merge lecture content with critical thinking opportunities.
