Using ArcGIS, create individual GIS projects from pre-approved data sets. Covers formulating a research question for analysis, conducting background research, map development and layout, and presenting the results in a research paper.

Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Use real-world data to formulate a research question for analysis.
  2. Conduct background research to support the research question.
  3. Develop maps from the data to support and carry out the analysis using ArcMap overlay tools, queries or joins.
  4. Create map layouts using standard map design guidelines.
  5. Write a research paper in scientific format citing sources and providing references.
