Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Identify resins, initiators, promoters, solvents and all chemicals by sight, smell and touch and handle them by mising measuring, pouring, stirring and weighing to safety standards.
  2. Explain Darcy's law by its four elements.
  3. Identify and describe four different types of vacuum pumps.
  4. Build breathers and feed systems using proper materials.
  5. Demonstrate the use of spray tack adhesive and vacuum bag sealant tape.
  6. Build windows and explain the function of the needle and demonstrate its usage.
  7. Identify and describe the different types of coring material and demonstrate the fitting of core by the use of a scribe.
  8. Identify the correct concentration of initiation to the resin to produce a workable pot life:
    • Predict flow time of resin.
    • Predict correct amount of resin to material ratio.
  9. Discuss and explain the advantages and disadvantages of the reusable B side mold.
  10. Demonstrate silicone bag part building and evaluate its application in industry.
  11. Demonstrate rigid B side part building and evaluate its application in industry.
  12. Distinguish and operate support equipment in Closed Cavity and Light Resin Transfer Method.
