Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Speak for understanding by focusing on English for everyday communication.
  2. Demonstrate ability to pronounce and distinguish basic vowel and consonant sounds; basic syllables; word stress; minimal pairs; linking words; word endings; thought groups; and reductions.
  3. Present topics and new vocabulary using select media such as Microsoft PowerPoint and/or videos.
  4. Take notes on presentations, lectures, and videos.
  5. Effectively ask conversational questions.
  6. Effectively ask content questions about presentations, lectures, and class discussions.
  7. Engage in an experiential learning project such as the International Music Collective radio show and/or the Conversation Partner Program.
  8. Demonstrate global citizenship, critical thinking, and metacognition.
