Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Identify the different types of nondestructive testing and their applications.
  2. Calculate characteristics of acoustic energy using ultrasonic formulas.
  3. Explain the basic principles of acoustics and how they are used in ultrasonic NDT.
  4. Explain how ultrasonic sound waves propagate and are received using basic testing techniques, and the interpretation of results from ultrasonic NDI.
  5. Identify and describe the function and purpose the ultrasonic equipment components.
  6. Demonstrate straight beam examinations.
  7. Identify and describe flaws in composite materials and the NDI methods used to find specific flaws.
