 Course Description  

This course is designed to help students demonstrate high school competencies in fulfillment of HS21+ diploma requirements through completion of individual portfolio assignments. Guides adult high school students through the process of developing a plan for completing the requirements for their adult high school diploma.

 Prerequisite  

Prerequisite: CASAS reading score of 226 or better or permission.

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

Course Contents

  1. Explore and document personal, professional, and educational goals.
  2. Identify HS21+ graduation requirements needed and create a plan to fulfill them through competency based assessments aligned with the College and Career Readiness Standards and the Washington State Adult Learning Standards.
  3. Utilizing the writing process to write academic essays.
  4. Use computer skills/programs for academic purposes such as word processing, email, and learning management systems as well as applying information technology to increase background knowledge, access new information, and enhance scholarship.
  5. Providing and responding to feedback from instructor, academic advisor, and classmates to create a learning portfolio.
  6. Compiling evidence through a reflective portfolio assessment process which documents academic growth, increased proficiency in, and knowledge of content area skills.
