A study of the fundamental theory and practice of realistic acting with a focus on script analysis and rehearsal technique.

 Prerequisite  

Prerequisite: Grade of 2.0 or higher in ENGL 097, or AESL 098, or appropriate test score.

Course Contents

  1. Using scenes from contemporary dramatic literature, students will present scenes in class. These scenes will be supported by a written analysis, including rehearsal schedule. Scenes are evaluated utilizing instructor feedback, peer review, scene partner critique and self assessment.
  2. Using critical thinking skills, students will analyze a textbook and present the results of that analysis through written assignments and seminar discussions.
  3. Students will explore and analyze the techniques of realistic acting through in class exercises and projects.
