 Course Description  

Screenplay and stage script format, story construction and character development will be studied. Student writing will be read and discussed in a supportive workshop setting. An appropriate class for both beginning and advanced writers.

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

1. Understand the fundamental difference between film and theatre as art forms.
2. Understand story construction including the cultural influences that effect story structure.
3. Learn correct professional format for screenplays and stage scripts.
4. Learn about the business of selling scripts in the professional world.
5. Write a screenplay and stage script and share their work with the class.
6. Understand the process of writing and develop a personal technique that is effective for them.
7. Learn to effectively evaluate a script and participate in construcive critique sessions.
