 Course Description  

Designed to reinforce the necessity and importance of the correct and efficient use of mathematics for the carpentry trade. Begins by practicing various mathematical computations using basic non-calculator methods, and will expand with the use of basic and Construction Master� calculators. Utilize the same mathematics for layout applications in the lab.

Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions, whole numbers and decimal numbers with and without the use of a calculator.
  2. Figure areas and volumes for square, rectangular, round and various polygons. Figure angles and sides for right triangles, and other polygons.
  3. Layout various shapes and sizes of projects: (rafters, stairs, arcs, ellipses, buildings, and polygons).
  4. Utilize both standard and Construction Master Calculators for many math applications.
