 Course Description  

In this course, students explore a number of systems of government, including their histories and underlying philosophies. Students also study the U. S. Constitution and gain a firm understanding of the roles of the 3 branches of government.

  3. Understand key ideals and principles outlined in the Founding Documents.
    • Declaration of Independence, including life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness;
    • U.S. Constitution, including the rule of law, separation of powers, representative government, and popular sovereignty;
    • Bill of Rights, including due process and freedom of expression.
  4. Evaluate the impact of various forms of government on people in the past or present.
