After completing this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate financial literacy.
  2. Recognize the long-term financial impact of career choice.
  3. Understand how to read a pay stub and describe the purpose of each deduction.
  4. Track income and expenses in order to prepare monthly budgets.
  5. Evaluate credit terms and options for credit cards, loans, and mortgages and calculate cost of credit.
  6. Understand various savings options and the impact of compound interest.
  7. Understand terms of health, auto and home insurance and compare various policies to meet personal needs.
  8. Understand federal, state and local taxes and describe programs and services funded by those taxes.
