 Course Description  

Explores the role that the human resources function and the manager play to achieve high levels of organizational performance in healthcare settings. Evaluate the organizational impact related to the following areas of human resources: talent acquisition and talent management; total rewards (compensation and benefits); evaluating and managing employee performance; union relationships, health, safety, and security.

  1. Examine the importance of HR as a central management function and influence on organizational culture and managing human resources as a critical competency for managers by researching health care workplace application and practice.
  2. Recognize the legal and regulatory principles that govern the American workplace by researching their application in the healthcare field.
  3. Analyze major HR functions (e.g., organizational effectiveness strategy, talent recruitment, selection and development and managing poor performance) through case-study based critique and analysis and application as they relate to healthcare.
  4. Evaluate the impact of bias on the manager and organizational effectiveness by researching its impact in healthcare fields.
