 Course Description  

The Mariachi ensemble is a performance-oriented group that focuses on traditional Mexican music that is appropriate to the student's skill level. We concentrate on correct instrumental techniques, music reading skills, memorization, ear training, and stage presence. Instrumentation for this ensemble includes Violin, Guitarron, Vihuela, Trumpet and Voice.

Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate playing techniques of various instruments using music reading and ear training skills.
  2. Interpret traditional Mariachi music forms within their historical settings.
  3. Perform memorized Mariachi musical forms within appropriate stage performance parameters.
  4. Analyze Mariachi musical forms so as to perform in a stylistically correct manner.
