Course Contents

  1. The course will focus on the work of three or four modern authors. Plays will be read and discussed. Scene from the plays will be analyzed, rehearsed and performed. Major areas of study include:
    • Physical and vocal styles
    • Non-naturalistic approaches to staging
    • Symbolic uses of the body, voice, costumes, props and space
    • The use of metaphors and images
    • The character as dramatic persona
