 Course Description  

Principles and conceptual overview of remote sensing instruments and how data and images are used to monitor and evaluate the condition and distribution of the earth's surface features.

Prerequisite: GIS 102.

Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Understand the principles behind various remotely sensed data types. Utilize four-band digital imagery.
  2. Utilize wildlife telemetry equipment to track wildlife species. Implement topographic classification in LIDAR analysis.
  3. Utilize Normalized Difference Vegetation Index in land cover examinations. Perform habitat modeling with Preference Curves to classify topographic landforms.
  4. Understand drone regulations and their application in natural resource management. Utilize drone applications and photo georectification.
  5. Be capable of processing remotely sensed data into projects.
