Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Discuss human disease processes related to common disorders associated with specific body systems, life stages, conditions and disorders.
  2. Summarize medical conditions associated with specific systems of the human body using the standard format:
    • Description. Etiology. signs and symptoms.
    • Diagnostic procedures. Treatment. Prognosis.
    • Prevention. Cultural influences.
  3. Contrast and compare congenital and genetic conditions, neoplasms, and infectious diseases.
  4. Explain nutritional requirements and dietary recommendations for medical conditions associated with specific disorders and lifespan to patients.
  5. Teach patients methods of health promotion and disease prevention including nutritional recommendations for health maintenance.
  6. Locate, identify and use reliable medical references, print materials, and electronic sources.
