 Course Description  

Principles and practices relating to weld procedure qualification and welder certification. Unlimited thickness, all-position FCAW welder qualification test on carbon steel in conformity with AWS and WABO standards.

 Prerequisite  

Prerequisite: 2 credits from any WT course or Department Chair permission.

Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

1. Interpret State of Washington (WABO) welder qualification testing standards.
2. Prepare and weld plates for all position, unlimited thickness FCAW welder qualification test.
3. Extract, prepare, and bend weld test specimens from one-inch carbon steel test plates.
4. Pass FCAW welder qualification test in accordance with WABO 27-13-A.

1. Fitup of weld assembly according to specifications.
2. Extraction and preparation of weld test specimens for guided bend test.
3. Strategies for passing welder qualification tests.
