 Course Description  

Explores the Computer Aided Drawing (CAD), Computer Aided Machining (CAM), and the Computer Numeric Controlled (CNC) processes. Included are the basics of CNC machine operation, advanced print reading and programming methodologies. Gain hands on experience with conversational programming of CNC equipment.

Prerequisites: MANF 114 with a grade of C- or higher.

Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

1. Generate Geometric and Machine (G&M) codes to accomplish required tool paths and cuts.
2. Perform basic debugging and program editing.
3. Plan a series of tool paths and cuts to render finished parts.
4. Utilize the commands and rules for creating and processing subprograms.
5. Program machining functions using conversational programming.
6. Create CAM toolpaths from 3D CAD models.
