Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

1. Identify the primary symptoms of child abuse and neglect.
2. Differentiate the varying legal responsibilities of professionals working with children.
3. Discuss current views on intervention/remediation/prevention.
4. Explain the primary laws (local and national) on child abuse and neglect.
5. Describe child behavior that indicates emotional distress.
6. Evaluate strategies for responding to child emotional and/or behavioral distress.
