Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

1. Perform maintenance in the areas of engines, basic wiring, batteries, starters, and charging systems.
2. Explain basic fundamental operations of all major automotive systems.
3. Understand customer service and how it relates to different cultures.
4. Understand the importance of teamwork in an industry setting.
5. Access and use electronic service information.
6. Work safely on a vehicle without injury to themselves or others, and be aware of the hazards inherent in some operations and hazardous materials used in some processes.
7. Understand the operation of the shop, employee and employer responsibilities.
8. Understand safety and the hazards of the automotive industry, lifting, fire, hazardous waste, and how to react to them.
9. Perform basic maintenance.
