 Course Description  

Introduction to Computer Numeric Controlled (CNC) machine operation theory and practice. Covers basic G&M codes needed to program and operate CNC machinery. Gain hands-on access to CNC laser cutting and milling workstations.

Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

1. Relate the Cartesian coordinate system to the machining process.
2. Generate G & M codes to accomplish required tool paths and cuts.
3. Perform basic debugging and program editing.
4. Demonstrate shop safety practices.
5. Perform part cutting on CNC machine.
6. Check dimensional accuracy of finished part. Determine acceptability based on design tolerances.
