This project-based course is designed to help students demonstrate competency in social studies subjects required for the HS+ diploma.

Prerequisite

Prerequisite: HSC 018 with a "D" or higher AND HSC 065 with a "C" or higher (or 1 credit U.S. History from HS transcripts).

Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

Understand and apply knowledge of government, law, politics, and the U.S. Constitution to demonstrate thoughtful, participatory citizenship.
Use a spatial perspective to make reasoned decisions by applying the concepts of location, region, and movement and demonstrating knowledge of how geographic features and human cultures impact environments.
Understand and apply knowledge of historical thinking, chronology, eras, turning points, major ideas, individuals, and/or themes in local, Washington State, tribal, and world history to evaluate how history shapes the present and future.
Understand and apply reasoning skills to conduct research toward deliberating, forming, and evaluating positions through the processes of reading, writing, and communicating.
Demonstrate competency in civics topics outlined by RCW 28A.230.094
