 Course Description  

Introduction to the use of microcomputer database software for home and office. Provides an understanding of database software in general and Microsoft Access in particular, as a productive and useful tool.

 Prerequisite  

Prerequisite: computer literacy and file management skills are strongly recommended.

Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

1. Create a database according to a provided design that includes tables, queries, forms, reports and imported data that enable database operations.
2. Design complex queries incorporating joined tables, compound criteria, parameters, and calculations, that extract data for planning, reporting, and exporting.
3. Maintain a database by updating table design, records, and relationships to ensure data accuracy.
4. Create and modify basic and advanced forms incorporating multiple tables and controls that improve the efficiency of data management.
5. Create and modify basic and advanced reports incorporating sub-reports and source queries that effectively communicate data in printed form.
