 Course Description  

This 30 hour course is designed primarily for supervisors or workers with some safety responsibility. In addition to providing training on the recognition, avoidance, abatement and prevention of safety and health hazards in the workplace, workers� rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint, this course includes injury and illness programs, safety meetings, and supervisory communication. The student receives an OSHA completion card for construction upon the successful completion of this course. OSHA student completion cards for construction do not expire.

Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

1. Identify and describe OSHA�s mission along with worker rights and employer responsibilities under OSHA.
2. Explain how OSHA inspections are conducted and how to utilize helpful worker safety and health resources.
3. Identify, describe, and recognize employer requirements, and protect his/herself from construction worksite illnesses, injuries and/or fatalities for OSHA Outreach Training program designated �Focus Four� topics:
   • a. Caught-in or-between. b. Electrocution hazards. c. Struck-by hazards. d. Fall hazards.
4. Familiarize and review his/herself with the OSHA safety standards regarding some, if not all, of the following topics:
   • a. Stairways and ladders. b. Confined space. c. Cranes, derricks, hoists, elevators and conveyors. d. Ergonomics.
   • e. Fire protection and prevention. f. Material handling, storage, use and disposal. g. Motor vehicles. h. Scaffolds and steel erection.
   • I. Hand and power tools. j. Welding and cutting.
5. Demonstrate the ability to access and utilize OSHA standards for the construction industry (29 CFR Part 1926).
