 Course Description  

Become familiar with the identification and installation of wood, and metal doors and frames and their related hardware. Emphasizes door hinges, closers, stops, and holders. Covers the preparation and setup of exit (panic) hardware installation methods and current practices and procedures.

Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

1. Understand prints relevant to door & hardware installation. Identify door hand configurations, and door & hardware schedules.
2. Understand various finishes applied to door hardware. Demonstrate proper door storage & handling techniques.
3. Install a wood door frame with trim. Install & anchor a masonry door frame and a knockdown door frame.
4. Identify various hinge types and uses. Install hinges, and hang & adjust a door.
5. Identify types & uses of locksets and install same. Identify & install door closers, door holders, and door stops. Identify & install fire exit hardware and panic hardware.
