 Course Description  

Introduction to the expectations and requirements for scaffold erectors and dismantlers. A brief overview of the scaffold erector industry standards followed by an OSHA 10 outreach that will give each student the necessary skills and safety awareness needed to fulfill a long and healthy career. Emphasis will be placed on safety while assembling, using, and dismantling the various types of scaffolding and scaffold systems. Construction Fall protection will be discussed to prepare the student for the various types of fall hazards found in construction. Focuses on ropes and knots used in scaffolding to safely raise and lower material along with techniques for passing material by hand. In addition to identifying various types of fall protection, the student will determine the function and application for each type listed. Overhead protection and training requirements for scaffold erectors will be discussed.

Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

1. Identify many of the safety hazards in today�s industry, and describe the rights an individual has to a safe work environment.
2. Successfully complete the OSHA 10 certification.
3. Successfully complete 8 hour Construction Fall Protection.
4. Successfully complete the 8 hour First Aid, CPR, AED certification.
5. Demonstrate the hand signals used to call out for number and type of scaffold components.
6. Properly tie the knots used in scaffolding to raise and lower material.
7. Assemble three pre-designed scaffold projects.
