 Course Description  

Introduction to the safe practices and procedures for access and egress on scaffolding � specifically choosing the proper method and equipment for the task at-hand. In addition to covering the knowledge & skills necessary for scaffolding platforms and components strength and capacity, the student will identify and calculate contributory leg loads and then design his or her own scaffold using information gathered for a specific job. Capacity, duty rating, access, and leg load will all be calculated to successfully complete the design criteria.

Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

1. Understand how to rate a scaffold platform light, medium, and heavy duty, and use a systems scaffold technical manual to look up allowable loads for individual parts.
2. Know the steps to follow to accurately calculate the contributory leg load on single, multiple bay, and multi lift scaffolds and apply those calculations to a manufactures tech manual.
3. Build a Multi bay Multi lift Scaffold with safe access consisting of job built stairs, ladder hatch deck, ladder cage, ramps and walkways.
