 Course Description  

Focuses on the proper sequence for erecting irregular shaped scaffolds such as a pentagon for erecting around a cylindrical object. Job built cantilevers under compression or tension forces to extend the working platform beyond the footprint of the scaffold, and job built bridges which extend further than manufactured trusses can provide. The student will undertake exercises for estimating the amount of parts needed to build a System Scaffold from a set of working drawings. Four building projects will be completed - all pertaining to everyday industrial and commercial scaffold erection.

Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

1. Accurately estimate the amount of time and material needed to build the projects assigned. Properly layout and assemble a pentagon shaped scaffold.
2. Assemble a cantilever under both compression and tension forces with proper installation of clamps and raker support tubes.
3. Erect a job built bridge using vertical diagonals and assorted tube and clamp to maintain support and integrity.
