 Course Description  

Continuation of DSL 103. Theory and repair of manual transmissions, drive axles, differentials, and drivelines. Introduction to automatic transmissions and their electronic control systems, and auto-shift manual transmissions. Theory and service diagnostics of ABS brakes. Theory and servicing of vehicle air-conditioning systems. Preventative maintenance summary. Develop skills regarding teamwork and customer service with a diverse and multicultural population.

 Prerequisite  

Prerequisite: DSL 103 and WMATH 100 with a "D" or higher or concurrent enrollment.

Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

1. Correctly install and adjust a Power Take Off (PTO) assembly.
2. Understand and service manual transmissions and drive axles.
3. Troubleshoot and repair transmission air systems.
4. Troubleshoot automatic transmissions and follow diagnostic procedures.
5. Understand theory and diagnostics of auto-shift manual transmissions.
6. Work as a team member.
7. Develop customer service skills in regard to a diverse and multicultural population.
8. Operate A/C equipment safely and troubleshoot A/C system using gauge set.
9. Recover, recycle, and recharge refrigerant.
