 Course Description  

Gives the carpenter a basic understanding of light-gauge metal stud framing. The carpenter will gain the basic skillset required for metal stud framing and layout through active participation in class discussion and shop time with hands on framing projects.

Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

1. Recognize and identify various components, materials, tools and fasteners used in the installation of metal framing.
2. Understand the relation between gypsum wall board and metal stud framing and how they work together.
3. Learn the proper techniques and methods of layout and safely cutting and handling metal components.
4. Demonstrate the ability to layout, measure, cut and install metal framing.
