Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Illustrate the growth and development of plant tissue from seed to plant, flowers, then fruit by creating a model. Next Generation Science Standards High School Life Science (HS-LS1-5)
  2. Illustrate how photosynthesis transforms light energy into stored chemical energy. (HS-LS1-5)
  3. Use the scientific method and inquiry to analyze problems or phenomena in the plant world.
  4. Demonstrate basic lab skills through the collection, synthesis, and analysis of data.
  5. Evaluate the arguments and specific claims that changes in environmental conditions may result in (1) increases in the number of individuals of some species, (2) the emergence of new species over time, and (3) the extinction of other species.
