Course Description
Introduction to developing the journeyman carpenters� ability to select and use proper means and methods for working at disaster sites, specifically high hazard sites of chemical and petroleum refineries. Fundamentals of first aid for safety and health hazards, respiratory equipment, decontamination procedures, Incident Command Systems (ICS), and steps to reduce traumatic incident stress resulting from high-hazard working conditions, will be covered. Three major conceptual schemes comprise the focus of this course: preparedness and planning, mitigating risk of exposure to health hazards including traumatic incident stress, and managing site variables.
