 Course Description  

Week four of a Carpenter skills Concrete Pre-apprenticeship program. Students will gain proficiency in basic scaffold erection and dismantling. Jobsite safety with an emphasis on jobsite culture, employability skills, and financial literacy will also be covered; complete the Hands-On Assessment (HOA) for carpenter apprentices.

Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate jobsite safety protocol for scaffold erection and use.
  2. Identify different types of scaffold systems and their correct applications.
  3. Use the appropriate trade math to complete calculations and layout of scaffold parts.
  4. Correctly erect a tube and clamp scaffold system following a shop drawing.
  5. Erect a platform scaffold to the correct specifications.
  6. Demonstrate safe dismantling processes of all scaffold projects.
  7. Complete the required hands-on assessment for carpenter apprentices.
  8. Participate in a positive jobsite culture curriculum, which includes the following: balanced perspective, conflict & communication, shared values, empowerment & motivation, bias & harassment.
  9. Practice job search and interview skills.
  10. Complete a component on financial literacy.
