 Course Description  

Delves into the intricate process of learning in children ages three to eight, focusing on various aspects such as neuroplasticity, knowledge construction, skill acquisition, and the development of disciplined thinking processes. Explores the profound influence of cognitive, linguistic, social, emotional, and physical development on the learning journey of young learners. Through a comprehensive examination of developmental frameworks, learn how to identify and assess the readiness of children for different types of learning experiences based on observation data.

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

1. Describe how learning occurs, encompassing neuroplasticity, the construction of knowledge, skill acquisition, and the development of disciplined thinking processes in three to eight-year olds.
2. Describe the impact of cognitive, linguistic, social, emotional, and physical development on learning.
3. Identify learners' readiness for learning by applying developmental frameworks to observation data.
4. Describe the cognitive processes associated with diverse forms of learning, such as critical thinking, creative thinking, problem framing, problem-solving, invention, memorization, and recall.
5. Describe the developmental stages in early childhood, spanning ages three to through eight, encompassing physical, cognitive, social and emotional, and linguistic domains, including bilingual/multilingual development.
