 Course Description  

Learn about Culturally Responsive Pedagogy. Explores the fundamental principles, strategies, and practices necessary to create an inclusive and culturally aware classroom environment. Participants will delve into the dynamic interplay between language, culture, and learning, equipping them with the tools to foster a supportive and diverse educational setting.

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

1. Describe the role of language and culture in learning.
2. Describe strategies for inviting and utilizing the input and contributions from families to better understand and support each learner's development.
3. Deliver instruction that caters to diverse learning strengths and needs.
4. Describe the assets that learners bring based on their individual experiences, abilities, talents, prior learning, and cultural backgrounds.
5. Communicate verbally and nonverbally in ways that show respect and responsiveness to learners' cultural backgrounds and diverse perspectives.
6. Deliver a lesson that integrates learners' experiences, cultures, and community resources into the plan and instruction.
7. Describe how to use knowledge of cultural, ethnic, gender, and learning differences to build stronger relationships and create more relevant learning experiences.
8. Describe their own sociocultural positioning and its potential influence on their work as a teacher.
