 Course Description  

Introduction to Industrial Health and Safety practices and hazards related to manufacturing facilities. Explore topics of hazard assessment, prevention, control, and use of PPE; investigate the application of human factors (ergonomics) in accident prevention; consider regulator policies and procedures for operation of facilities and equipment. Examine the ethical responsibility of individuals and organizations in developing a safety-first culture.

Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

  2. Apply the principles of human factors design to evaluate and recommend changes to manufacturing equipment by reviewing and applying industry standard practices.
  3. Review established and emerging regulatory policies and procedures related to the manufacturing industry by researching topics that align with personal career goals or interests.
  4. Distinguish between regulatory health and safety requirements and an organizations ethical responsibility to maintain a safe workplace by reviewing and analyzing various governmental and industry references.
