 Course Description  

Develop the ability to select and use proper means and methods of installing exterior cladding systems. Topics include applications of building envelope cladding, material handling and placement strategies, plan reading, and OSHA safety models. Three major conceptual schemes comprise the focus of this course: substrate preparation, framing support layout, installation, and sequencing, and precision cutting and bending techniques.

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Describe the fundamentals of exterior cladding systems installations.
  2. Identify connection details and corresponding connection hardware shown on detail drawings for cladding components and related fasteners.
  3. List the steps of installation in correct sequence, including methods for addressing issues with substrates that do not comply with tolerances specified by project documents.
  4. Install cladding panels including standing seam, interlocking, exposed fastener, and concealed fastener types, using cutting, bending, and fastening techniques learned in class.
