Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

1. Outline milestones in the history, philosophy and principles of education.
2. Compare the educational philosophies and models of influential figures in the development of education.
3. Describe the professional role of the educator in the program setting and the relationship of the educator to the child, family and community.
4. Identify factors that influence children's ability to learn.
5. Demonstrate a familiarity with the laws, standards and policies regarding education locally, statewide and nationally.
6. Articulate an understanding and appreciation for the diversity of learners and their cultural, social and community context.
7. Discuss issues and trends that currently impact children, families, educators and educational programs.
8. State his/her philosophy of education.
