 Course Description  

A semi-intensive support course for SVC students in the EAP Program who are taking a linked 100 level or higher non-EAP reading-intensive course.

 Prerequisite  

Prerequisite: Appropriate placement test score, C or higher in EAP 97, or instructor permission.

Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Read academic texts using appropriate reading strategies such as making personal connections, stating opinions, analyzing word parts, paraphrasing; and/or Reading Apprenticeship Routines from Reading for Understanding by Schoenbach, Greenleaf, and Murphy (2012).
  2. Utilize a variety of study strategies such as flashcards, Cornell Notes, study groups, online quiz creation tools, and campus tutoring services.
  3. Experience a variety of academic assessments such as test types, writing assignments, and presentations as appropriate for the linked course.
