After completing this course, the student will be able to:

2. Employ drawing techniques using a variety of media.

Course Contents

1. Using studio sessions and group exercises, students will develop observational and technical drawing skills.
2. Using alternative studio exercises students will practice working with a variety of media, which may include (but not be limited to) pencil, charcoal, pastel, and ink.
3. Using alternative teaching modes including lecture, video, guest lecture and gallery and/or museum visits, students will examine the variety of ways artists have used drawing as a medium of expression.
4. Using notebooks, independent exercises and/or group exercises students will use critical thinking skills to develop imagery.
5. Students will use critical thinking skills to evaluate and analyze their work using self assessments and open critique sessions.
