Introduction to the design factors that apply to multimedia. Includes basic design components for text, graphics, screen layout, color and the use of metaphor. Covers digital design for computers through a series of tasks and projects.

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

1. Describe the design factors that apply to graphics, screen layout and multimedia applications.
2. Create effective layouts appropriate for screen-based multimedia applications including Web browsers and wireless devices.
3. List the factors that should be considering designing a user interface.
4. Create effective layouts appropriate for screen-based multimedia applications including Web browsers and wireless devices.
5. Use various approaches to appropriate color design.
6. Understand the steps to developing a practical digital design.
