 Course Description  

Labs to accompany CHEM& 142. Gases, thermochemistry, intermolecular forces, liquids and solids, properties of solutions, kinetics, and equilibrium.

 Prerequisite  

Prerequisite: Appropriate placement or grade of 2.0 or higher in ENGL 101 (may be taken concurrently). MATH& 141 with a 2.0 or higher. CHEM& 151 with a 2.0 or higher. Concurrent enrollment in CHEM& 142 or completed CHEM& 142 with a 2.0 or higher.

  3. Calculate the enthalpy of reaction and explain its meaning.
  4. Explain intermolecular forces and their relationship to phase changes.
  5. Calculate free energy and entropy for a chemical reaction.
  6. Write the equilibrium expression for a reaction and use it to perform equilibrium calculations.
