 Course Description  

Study of Computer Numeric Control (CNC) in the manufacturing environment including manufacturing applications of CNC, machining techniques, and CNC programming/operation in a production setting. Students will develop CAD 3D models that are processed through computer-aided machining software and then executed on CNC machining centers.

 Prerequisite  

Prerequisites: MANF 242 with a grade of C- or higher.

Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Utilize basic and specialized measuring tools to make accurate measurements to standards.
  2. Demonstrate the ability to create machine tool paths that produce desired geometries and tolerances.
  3. Select the appropriate holding methods for a given machining operation.
  4. Determine the appropriate tooling for a given machining operation.
  5. Inspect workpieces for accuracy using probes and computer coordinate measuring (CMM) systems.
