 Course Description  

This is week one of a three week Pile Driver Skills Enhancement class for pre-apprentices. Develop foundational pile driver skills in a training environment that replicates typical pile driving tasks and conditions of a commercial construction site in order to provide the most realistic experience.

Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Identify the roles and responsibilities of the pile driver apprentice.
  2. Learn safe erection and dismantling processes for forms, framing and piles.
  3. Layout building perimeter and erect batter boards.
  4. Construct footings that conform to layout and layout form walls and erect form walls.
  5. Learn terminology for pile driving processes.
  6. Construct bulkheads and block outs in proper location of walls.
  7. Demonstrate the ability to follow all safety protocols for use of hand and power tools used in the pile driving industry.
  8. Identify and describe the materials used on pile driver jobsites.
  9. Learn the math skills needed to perform pile driver tasks.
  10. Start Employability Skills Training (Attitude, Realities of the Jobsite).
  11. Start Sexual Harassment/Positive Jobsite Culture Training.
