 Course Description  

Interact with a criminal justice agency. Apply academic knowledge while becoming familiar with tasks and responsibilities which enhance an agency's effectiveness within the community. Documentation/research paper required. Some Departments may require uniform funding. May be repeated for credit.

Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

1. The problems and responsibilities of professional people working in the administration of justice.
2. Assist students in integrating academic knowledge and practical experience.
3. Give students the opportunity to strengthen college records by including practical experience on transcripts.
4. Improve the quality of the law enforcement program by sharing with other students the experiences of field work.
5. Offer students a trial period in which they may determine whether or not they are suited to a specific career in the administration of justice.

Course Contents

1. Perform tasks as required by host agency.
2. Contribute two hours work per week for each credit earned.
3. Maintain a log of all �on-the-job� activity.
4. Write a research paper on a topic approved by the instructor.
5. Maintain a relationship as described in the course philosophy of the host agency.
