 Course Description  

An intermediate or advanced studio course which focuses on throwing and advanced hand-building techniques. Emphasis is on discussion and analysis. May be retaken for up to 8 credits.

 Prerequisite  

Prerequisite: ART 241 with a "D" or higher.

Course Contents

  1. Through alternative teaching methods including videotaping and demonstration, students expand their proficiency in methods of forming clay with emphasis on wheel throwing, glazing, and firing techniques.
  2. Using research and writing in journals, students will use critical thinking skills to evaluate and analyze artworks and develop ideas for clay design.
  3. As part of the alternative learning strategies, students will use critical thinking skills to evaluate and analyze their work using speech in open evaluations.
